The BECE will be conducted this year before the WASSCE in 2023, according to the West African Examinations Council.
Mr. Ben K Owusu, head of the WAEC Test Development Division, announced that the BECE will be written before the WASSCE for the first time on Friday’s Late News Discussion program on UTV.
Even though the WASSCE will begin on July 31, the BECE will be written first, he claimed. He said that all WASSCE papers would be practical tests from July 31 to August 7. After the BECE, which finishes on August 11, 2023, is written, the theoretical components will be written.
The first paper will be written on Monday, August 7, 2023, according to Mr. Ben K Owusu’s interpretation of the BECE timetable for 2023. and the final paper will be submitted on August 11, 2023, a Friday.
On the other side, the 2023 WASSCE will start on Monday, July 31, 2023. The tests will last till September 29, 2023. This demonstrates unequivocally that the 2023 WASSCE will precede the 2023 BECE.
There will be a one-week pause for all WASSCE applicants during that time because of this. On Monday, August 7, 2023, there will be just one practical assignment (Food and Nutrition Paper 3). On Monday, August 14, 2023, in addition to this paper, WASSCE candidates will resume their tests.
In contrast to previous years, this year’s BECE will be written earlier. Additionally, the academic year for 2023 has been planned so that it would end on September 15, 2023, for both basic schools and SHS.
Prior to the Covid-19 outbreak in 2020, basic schools and SHS had their original vacation days in August and September. All schools, including university institutions, modified their academic calendars as a result of the pandemic’s emergence. The Ghana Education Service is making every effort to reinstate the previous academic year.
