The 2023 SHS Placement for BECE graduates of the class of 2022 has been made public. 538,399 people have been placed in senior high schools and TVET schools across the country.
According to the Ghana Education Service’s new academic calendar, all 2022 BECE graduates who were placed in senior high schools should be there on Monday, February 20, 2023, to start the registration process.
GES says that for the admissions process to start, students must send the following documents to the SHS where they have been placed:
- Placement form
- Enrollment form – This form must be filled completely. The correct information about the student must be filled in. Before sending the form to the SHS for admission, it must also be filled out by the head teacher of the last school (JHS) or a pastor. But the name of the head teacher of the SHS or TVET must be left blank.
- BECE results/certificate
- Passport picture – You can add this to the placement form if you want to.
- Students must also know the digital address of their houses, hometown, place of birth, information about guardians or parents and students’ medical conditions.
If a student doesn’t bring any of the above documents with them on the day of admission, the school won’t let them in. The process of signing up is also free of charge.
The Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service have already told people not to work with people who say they can change the schools of BECE graduates. In February, people will find out where they will go to Senior High School. BECE graduates are told to wait for their placement and go to the SHS where they are put.
The school assignment is being made public based on how well each student did overall on the BECE.
Wednesday, at a press conference, the director said that the 2023 school assignment has been made public.
He said that 538,399 of the 547,329 registered candidates were good enough to be enrolled. This shows that 8,930 candidates were not placed in any senior high school or TVET institution in the country. Most likely, these are the candidates who got a 9 in English, math, or most other subjects.
Because of this, they can’t start secondary school this year. If they want free SHS, they will have to take the BECE again as a private candidate and do well before they can go to school in 2024.
