WAEC announces the number of people who will take the 2023 WASSCE.

448,000 applicants from different senior high schools will take the 2023 WASSCE for School, which will be given from July 31, 2023,

through September 26, 2023, according to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).

Agnes Teye-Cudjoe, a spokeswoman for WAEC, claimed in an interview seen by AcademicWeek that her organization has put in place sufficient safeguards to guarantee the smooth operation of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the non-profit organization (WAEC) stated,

“We have also gone around and inspected the depots, where we will be holding our secret materials throughout the performance of the examinations.

When asked if the schedule for the 2023 WASSCE had altered, she responded,

“The WASSCE timetable has been sent to the various schools, and then briefing sessions will be held for supervisors before the exams.”

She has urged pupils who would take the next West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School in 2023 to disregard the fictitious WASSCE for School timetable that has been posted on social media.

Similar to the previous year, Ghana will not take the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School alongside other members of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), such as Nigeria.

“The examination, which will once again be a Ghana-only version of the WASSCE,

will be conducted from Monday, July 31, 2023, to Tuesday, September 26, 2023,” the Public Relations Officer (PRO) informed stakeholders at the press briefing.

In a similar event, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, the minister of education,

asked all senior high school students who will be taking the international exam to abstain from cheating on the test.

The Minister of Education warned some students in the Ashanti Region that engaging in misconduct or cheating might result in the cancellation of their grades and even the interruption of their education, ruining their future.

“Examination malpractices have caused great havoc to many people who have regretted in life, but they cannot change the hands of time,

” he stated, urging the 2023 WASSCE aspirants to prepare adequately for the tests.

He reminded the test takers that the federal government had invested in them through the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) program, thus they needed to ace the WASSCE for School with flying colors.

“Your parents and the government have made significant educational investments in you because you are the future leaders who will hold accountable positions.

As a result, I beg you to do your hardest and do well on the test; but, we will be disappointed if you let us down, Adutwum warned the candidates.
